Overview

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Bhutan by attending the renowned Naked Dance (Treasure Dance) and participating in the iconic fire ceremony blessing known as Mewang. This journey will take you through the cultural heart of western and central Bhutan, where you will explore key cultural sites, sacred monasteries, medieval fortresses, and ancient temples. Discover why this region is often referred to as the “Switzerland of Bhutan” with its picturesque landscapes and serene environment.

Your adventure includes a visit to a local farmhouse, where you can taste authentic Bhutanese cuisine and experience the warmth of Bhutanese hospitality. One of the highlights of the trip is a hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest, a breathtaking monastery perched on the side of a cliff.

A major highlight of your trip will be attending the five-day Jambay Lakhang Festival in Bumthang. Held at one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century, this festival is a spectacle not to be missed. The festival features a variety of traditional dances performed by local villagers, including the fascinating Terchham (Naked Dance), initiated by Terton Dorji Lingpa, as well as Mewang (Fire Blessing), Macham, Ging Tsholing, Dramtse Ngacham, and Zhana Cham. This is a unique opportunity to witness Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions up close.
